Päivi Laitinen, Chair
Päivi Laitinen, Head Chemist emerita and Adjunct Professor, has chaired the Scientific Committee since 2016. She brings extensive experience in clinical biochemistry, healthcare administration and international collaboration, with research interests spanning prenatal screening and cardiac markers.
Anja Kessler
Dr Anja Kessler is Director of the Reference Institute for Bioanalytics (RfB) in Bonn, Germany. Her expertise includes external quality assessment (EQA), metrological traceability, and reference methods and materials, supporting international efforts to improve laboratory quality.
Anna Linko-Parvinen
Anna Linko-Parvinen is Chief Physician in Clinical Chemistry at Tyks Laboratories, Turku University Hospital, and Associate Professor at the University of Turku. Her interests include laboratory quality improvement, method performance and diagnostic accuracy, with a strong focus on international collaboration.
Dalius Vitkus
Dalius Vitkus is Associate Professor at Vilnius University and Head of the Centre of Laboratory Medicine at Santaros Klinikos, Lithuania. He holds several international leadership roles, with expertise in quality management, EQA, biomarkers and postgraduate education in laboratory medicine.
Marc Thelen
Marc Thelen is Scientific Director of the Dutch EQA organisation SKML and Professor of Quality in Medical Laboratory Care at Radboud University Medical Centre. His research explores how measurement uncertainty affects clinical classification and how quality control can support reliable laboratory results.
Rachel Marrington
Professor Rachel Marrington is a Clinical Scientist at Birmingham Quality, part of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. Her work focuses on using EQA data to support post-market surveillance and improve the quality of laboratory results for the benefit of patients.
