Where did it all begin?

Welcome to the historical journey of the Labquality Days congress! The event celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, but where did it all begin?

In 1972, Laaduntarkkailu Oy (now Labquality Oy) organised its first user meetings, which marked the start of the company’s training activities. In total, more than one hundred people interested in Laaduntarkkailu Oy’s work took part in these meetings, and summaries of the presentations were distributed in duplicated handouts to a wider audience.

Attendance at the user meetings grew year by year, and in 1976 the event became known as Laaduntarkkailupäivät (Quality Control Days). That same year, the event took on a more formal setting when Finlandia Hall was chosen as the venue, and comprehensive printed summaries of the lectures began to be produced.

The lectures at the first Laaduntarkkailupäivät covered topics such as the activities of Laaduntarkkailu Oy, the properties of control sera, reference methods, and sampling.

The two-day event concluded with a panel discussion aimed at finding answers to questions raised by participants. Nearly 400 visitors attended the first Laaduntarkkailupäivät over the two days.

In 2026, the Labquality Days congress will feature four programme tracks, seven lecture halls, more than 90 speakers, nearly 1,200 participants, and an exhibition with almost 50 companies!
