Exhibitor Stage Takeover
Hemolysis is the leading cause of preanalytical error in point-of-care (POC) testing, accounting for up to 70% of all preanalytical issues and often remaining unrecognized in clinical practice. Its prevalence varies across hospital settings and can significantly impact potassium (K⁺) results, leading to inappropriate clinical decisions and potential harm to patient care.
The aim of the lecture is to present GEM® Premier 7000 with Intelligent Quality Management 3 (iQM3®), which represents a major advancement by enabling for the first time lab-quality hemolysis detection directly in whole blood samples. The solution detects hemolysis within 45 seconds on potassium results while simultaneously identifying other common preanalytical errors, including clots, bubbles, and contaminants. This innovation supports faster, more informed clinical decision-making, helps reduce inappropriate patient management, optimizes staff workflow, and contributes to improved patient outcomes and operational efficiency in acute care settings.
